Verses 26-29Verses 23-25

Here the attentions are attracted to the phenomenon of sleep which is very important in man's life, and it is one of the wisely ordered natural events, by which God governs the life. In other word the sleep is one of Infinite numbers of signs of God:-

``And of His signs is your sleep at night and day, and your seeking of His Grace.''

It is an evident fact that all the creatures are in need of some rest and repose, after a day of movement and endeavour; in order to revive and refresh themselves. Sleep will give a halt to all movements of the body, even to parts of the brain; in order to prepare it for next rush of movements. Therefore the restoring of strength, that we obtain through the sleep is indeed a great blessing from God. Many a time happens that we are so tired that we fill to be sick of everything. Then sleep takes us over. Next morning when we get up we feel to be sound and safe, happy and refreshed, and we are willing to go on with our works eagerly.

Then, mention is made of another sign of Allah, which is manifested in the form of lightning and electricity, as a source of fear and hope:-

``And of His signs is that He will show you lightning, which is a source of fear and hope.''

Lightning is one of the dangerous forces of the nature, when the huge current that it makes to flow is not conducted to the Earth somehow, such as leading it through lightning rods, or lightning arresters. When so, the damage is negligible, when lightning strikes good conductors that are properly grounded.

On the other hand lightning can be considered as a herald of rain-bearing clouds, that may bring fertility and fruits of every kind in their train, and hence the phenomenon of lightning has been described as a source of fear and hope.

The last of the above verses (NO.25) reminds us of the constancy and stability of the sky and earth. The celestial bodies are not easily shaken or disturbed. Had this stability not existed life could not continue going on. The sky overhead which is nothing except an ocean of air, serves as a protective shield over us, against meteors, and all transient celestial bodies, that may enter the earth's atmosphere with great velocity. The protection applies well also to many kinds of dangerous rays like the ultra-violet, or cosmic rays. The heat generated by resistance of the air, through friction, will burn the meteors into ashes, and only a little of them may strike a building or fall upon the ground to create hazards.

Although the sky and the earth have no apparent pillar or a support, to keep them upright; we steel find them standing firm, and always erect in their position and posture. This is achieved through the power of gravity by the fine artistry, infinite knowledge, and the creative power, of our Lord God; who holds them as they are.
