Verses 9-11Verses 7-8

If Allah has given a priority to His prophet over the believer's self ad soul, (S 33:6) it is because of the heavy duties that they have, with regards to the believers and also the non-believers. Authority and power is always accompanied by responsibilities:-

``When We took from the prophets their covenant....''

It begins with the general covenant that God has made with all the prophets, and then five of them who are the Arch Prophets of God have been named As; NoahِAbrahamِMosesِJesus and Mohammad, God's peace be upon them all.

The object of the covenant was one word, and that was the oneness of God. All the prophets and the Arch Prophets enjoined the worship of the only one true God, and to do righteous good deeds.

To give some more detail on this account, we say, all the creatures are obligated to follow God's law, which is the law of their being and their nature. If they follow the law, it is for their own good, and will end to their own benefit.

Prophets too, are obligated by their promise to carry out their prophetic mission perfectly, and to proclaim the truth without any fear or greed.

Then in the Dooms Day, they will have to give a full account of how the truth fared in the world. That is to say; who accepted and who rejected. Who supported and who obstructed. Who helped and who hindered. God the All-knowing, knows well all these matters, but by the witness of the prophets, He may want to prove their guilt to those who seek to bring some excuses which are flimsy and worse than their sins.

The aim of the covenant is mentioned in the next verse:-

``So that He may ask the truthfuls of their truthfulness, and to punish the non-believers with a painful punishment.''

Those who claim to be believer must prove their truthfulness practically, and have to separate their account from that of the non-believers and hypocrites. In the S 49:15 the truthfuls have been defined thus:-

Verily the believers are those who have believed in Allah and His Messengers, then fell not in doubt, and strove by their wealth and person in the way of Allah. They are the TRUTHFULS. (SADIGHIN)
