Verses 53-55Verses 49-52

Another weak point of the un-belivers has been discussed here, that in hardship they will remember God and beg His pardon, and plea for His help; but as soon as their affliction is removed, they forget their earnest request, and say:- ``My trouble was removed by a knowledge I had.'' Some other say:- ``My art or my friend helped me in that.''

These are so ignorant that, even do not know that their knowledge and art too are God's favour bestowed on them.

This was exactly what KORAH (GHÄROON) said to Moses and Aaron:-

He was of the Israelites who rose in rebellion against Moses, on the ground of his position and immense wealth. Such were the treasures that Allah had bestowed on him that their very keys would have been a burden to a group of strong men.

When his people told him do not exult, that Allah does not love those who spring up in pride and vanity he said: ``This wealth of mine has nothing to do with Allah. It has come to me by a certain kind of knowledge that I have it.''

When he came out in his glory and pride, many men wished they were him; but Allah commanded the earth to swallow him and his magnificent house, and all that he had, and there was no one to avail him anything. This incident was a trial though most of the people did not know.

Trials of God are inevitable, and may help people to show their merits, and to put their frozen faculties and hidden power to function.

We may see that some people become rich who have no merit, knowledge, or art, to help them. There are also poor people, whom we see they deserve to be rich due to their wisdom and knowledge, and crafts. God's favour is bestowed on all, according to a measure which depends on God's general plan, which is laid on for the good of all creatures. No one should therefore become arrogant and haughty for what he has, or be cast down for what he has not. Such favours of God do not mean the rich man has merits and is dearer and nearer to God, and the poor is not. We should compare our position, with the universal plan of God, which everywhere and everytime appears in the signs of Allah.
