Verses 6-8Verses 1-5

The Pagan Arabs were excited when Qurän was rehearsed to them by the prophet and provoked when its verses attached their idols and polytheism.

Once they asked Valid who had some education, and could read and write:- ``What sort of a word is that of Mohammad?''

In answer to them, he said:- ``I must go and discuss the matter with him personally and let you know the result.''

He went to the prophet and said:- ``O, Mohammad! Rehearse some of your poetries to me, that I may know what they are?''

The prophet told him:- ``These are not poetries. They are the words of Allah in truth, with which He has sent His Message and Messenger.''

Valid said:- O.K. Recite some of it to me, whatever you think they might be.

The prophet began to recite the first twelve verses of this chapter, ``S 41'' saying:-

``This is a Book; Sent down by the Merciful (RAHMÄN), the Compassionate.'' (RAHIM)

Valid interrupted the prophet, and ironically said:- ``By Rahmän, you mean the man who lives in Yamämeh, with such a name!''

The prophet said:- ``Not so as you think. This word is another name of our Lord God whom we call Allah. Rahmän is one of His great attributes.''

Then the prophet continued to rehearse to him the other verses, until he came up to verse NO.12:-

``If they turn away, say:- ``I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt which over took Äd and Thamud.''

Here, valid began to tremble with a mysterious awe, and his hairs stood stretched upon his skin! He then got up and went directly home, and did not go to his people! Ghoraish told Abujahl, it seems to us that Valid too, has been possessed by Mohammad!

Next day Abujahl visited Valid in his house, and said:- ``Uncle Valid, is that true that you too have repudiated the religion of our fathers!?''

``Never so! said Valid, but the words of Mohammad has astonished me! It is not a poetry, neither a Divination, and nor a composed sermon! I am of opinion that his word is an enchantment which charms the hearer! We better name his word a sorcery'':-

``A sending down by the Merciful, the Compassionate.''

Here in this verse, God's General Mercy and Especial favour and blessings, have joined to cover both His friend and foe, though He has a private and particular blessing for those nearer to Him.

This revelation which is known as the Holy Qurän, is a well expounded Book. In it, everything has been explained clearly and from various points of view. It contains everything of wet and dry. It is in Arabic language and easily intelligible. Some of its verses explain the meaning of some other. It consists of fundamental and ambiguous verses.

It goes down with lower class of people in understandings and knowledge, and goes up with higher class of people in knowledge and wisdom.

It is amazingly eloquent, and if we take a phrase out of one of its sentences or verses, no other phrase can be fit enough to be inserted in its place!

There is no despair from the Mercy of God in the whole Book, and all sinners can repent and return, in order to amend their deeds. Qurän warns all kinds of hazards that man can encounter with them in his spiritual or physical way of life.
