The Answer to two Questions IF ALL THE TREES BECAME PENS

The tenth verse too speaks about God’s knowledge, the knowledge of the unseen and unknown that is exclusively His and no one else knows about it.

“Verily, God is He who has the knowledge of the Hour.” The word Hour here means the Day of Judgment. It is He who sends down the rain and knows about its quantity and condition. “He sends the rain down and knows what is in the womb” and so he knows the quantity and the sex of the yet unborn child or children.

“No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die.” And then the verse adds, “Verily god is all-knowing all-aware.”

This verse specifically discusses the glory of God’s knowledge and that is the knowledge of the Judgment Day but the tone of the verse signifies that the other four knowledge mentioned in it are also exclusively for Him. The five kind of knowledge are interconnected in the sense that they all belong to God.

The traditions from the Holy Messenger and the infallible Imams (in Sunni and Shia annals) also denote that these five kinds of knowledge are restricted to God. To stress our point we will now reproduce two traditions one from Durre Manshur and one from Nurus Saqlain:

It is recorded in Durre Manshur that the Messenger said, “There are five keys of the unseen that are known only to God. No one other than God knows about the future events; no one other than God knows about the Judgment Day; No one other than God knows what is in the mother’s womb; no one knows when the rains will descend excepting God and no one other than God knows at which place a person will meet his death.” (1)

Tafsir Nurus Saqlain records Imam Jafar Sadiq to have said, “Should I tell you about the five things that God has not disclosed to anyone?” The narrator says, “I responded, “Yes!”. The Imam said, “The knowledge of the Judgment Day is only with God, It is He sends down the rain; He knows what occurs in the mother’s womb and no one else does what will occur tomorrow and no one knows where his death will come. Verily god is all knowing and all aware.” (2) There are many other traditions in the annals about this subject. (3)
