The Explanation of the versesThe Explanation and the Message

The word ‘Khair” normally is used for “Good” and in some stages is used for “Very good”. It has been used 10 times in the Qura’n in the latter meaning as addition to the attribute. We will study the same in the following verses.

Khair is equal to existence and the existence of being is equal to Khair because God’s existence is unique and unlimited. It is the best of all existence. He is the best judge; the best giver of sustenance and the best helper.

All these are attributes of deeds and we have gathered them all under one heading so that our discussion ends with goodness.

Now we will listen to the following verses through our hearts:

Verse 109 of Surah Mumin:

You are the best of all who show mercy.

Verse 87 of Surah A’raf:

He is the best of the judges.

Verse 57 of Surah Anam:

He is the best of the judges (differentiators)

Verse 85 of Surah A’raf:

You are the best of those who (are victorious) give judgment.

Verse 11 of Surah Jumuah:

God is the best of providers

Verse 150 of Surah Al Imran:

God is your benefactor; He is the best of the Helpers.

Verse 155 of Surah A’raf:

Forgive us and have mercy on us you are the best of those who forgive.

Verse 29 of Surah Muminun:

Lord! Make me land at a blessed place; you are the best of those who bring to land.

Verse 30 of Surah Anfal:

They were planning and God too was planning; God is the best of the planners

Verse 89 of Surah Anbiya:

Lord do not forsake me; You are the best of the inheritors.

1. There are other explanations in the Qura’n in which Khair has been used as an attribute of God. Surah Yusuf verse 64 says, ‘He is the most merciful of those who show mercy.”
