Do these deeds contradict the justice of God? The Good and the Bad in Islamic traditions

WE know that the attribute of Justice comes under His attribute of deeds because these deeds glorify His deeds. The question now arises is that what specialty does it have that it is separate from other attributes and an irrevocable part of the tenets and it is sometimes spoken about together with Imamate as two pillars of the tenets?

We should consider the following points for the answer to these questions:

The special form of Justice as has been discussed earlier in the book is one of the reason for it being separate from other attribute.

As we have said that the first century Ulema of faith were at loggerheads; on the one side were the “Asharis” who said that God’s doings should be judged on any scale because He is far above such things. What ever He does is justice. He can throw all His apostles into Hell and admit all the evil doers in Paradise.

On the other side are Shias and Moatazallis who regard human intellect as a part of religion. They say God is wise and just and never does anything against His own rules. He never rewards the unjust and punish the righteous. Our intelligence understands the good and bad in a vast manner. God who is just never does anything without goodness. We have also seen the various verses of the Qura’n which confirm this assessment that God is never unjust in His deeds.

There was rift on the topic of Justice and judgment and the second group was called “Adlia” and with the passing of time justice was added among the basic tenets with Imamat.

Many attributes of deeds revert to this justice e.g.

God is wise, all powerful, sustainer, merciful and benevolent and all these are attached to the justice of God. Among the vast meaning of Justice is to place something at the right spot and so the attribute of justice includes all other attributes of deeds within itself.

The issue more important than this is the issue of resurrection and God Being the Authority on the Day of Reckoning and which depends on justice and its dispensation. This demands that the first attribute should be given due attention.

Justice has a vast connotation and includes the justification of faith together with collective justification as well as social justice. In this way the justice of God and its dispensation spreads its light on all living beings, society and commune. Thus is merits to be included in the basic tenets of Islam. Though we do not find any verse in the annals or any tradition in which justice is taken as a basic tenet through the infallible ones and this seemingly has been declared by the Ulema but it is supported by many verses and traditions that point to it. 1. There is only one Hadith in which Imam Jafar Sadiq was asked if the Unity of God and Justice were the tenets of religion? He pressed Imam for an explanation and the Imam explained the normally Justice would be considered as a tenet. ( Behar-ol-Anwar vol.5 page 17)
