The First Part Conclusion

We will now discuss the various names that have come in the Qura’n after explaining the meaning of life after death or the Day of Reckoning. These names point towards the different stages of that Great Day.

The pointed to be noted is that the Qura’n does not remember the life after death with a single name. the reason is that there will be many and various events and each of them will signify a different aspect.

To signify their specialties which have totally different and unprecedented sign the Qura’n uses various names so that it can collectively express and define this great day and its extra ordinary and heart rendering events.

The names here are not used as proper nouns but have a vast meaning which includes the des c r i p tive ones. These are the topics that are based on the events of the day and their attributes.

We now try to search the names of the Day of Reckoning in the Qura’n. We would like to draw the readers’ attention once again to the fact that giving profound thought to these names will result in the awakening, knowledge, culture of the souls, reformation of the hearts , invitation to piety and the refrain from evils.

The late Faiz Kashani writes in “Mahhujjatul Bezaa:

There is a secret instilled in every one of the name of the Day of Reckoning and each explanation carries an important meaning.

We should try to reach the depth of these meanings and unravel their secrets” (1)

They have then mentioned a hundred names for the Day of Reckoning (2) although all of these names are not present in the Qura’n for many of them have been taken from the Hadith. Such names are excluded from this explanatory discussion. We will then try to search the names that are mentioned in the Qura’n.

On the other hand the names mentioned by the late Faiz are present in the Qura’n and are connected with the traditions of the book and the Sunnah. It is better that we pay attention to the names mentioned in the Qura’n (whether they are linked with names that are limited or describe that Day and its specialties.) these names have been given three categories.
