VERSES NO. 103 & 104

Through these verses, four of the new heresis and superstitions held and respected by the Pagan Arabs are denied and rejected - Four kinds of domestic animals were freed and out of use according to some superstitious customs and ideas, which are as undermentioned:-

1- BAHIRA, was a domestic animal given birth to a large number of young ones. If the fifth of them was a female, they had the mother's ear slit, and she was dedicated to a god (idol), and no one had a right to drink out of her milk, or use her wool, or eat her meat or make any other uses of it.

2- SA'IBA, was a she - camel who had given birth to ten children. If so, she had to be freed, and no one had any right to touch her in any sort of use.

3- VASILA, was a sheep with seven kids or a sheep bearing twins, which for that reason was set free and dedicated to some of the known idols.

4- HAMM, was a male domestic animal who had impregnanted female animals for more than ten times! HAMM too, was free of all charges for being dedicated to idols! and hence the verse:-

``Allah has not appointed any domestic animals as BAHIRA, SA'IBA, VASILA andHAMM, but those who disbelieve forge lies against Allah, and most of them do not use their common sense.''

The above example show that superstition is due to ignorance and is a disgrading to men, and dishonouring to God.
