Verses 61-64Verses 58-60

The previous verses referred to the Arab's assertion that:- ``If we follow the prophet, we shall be driven out of our land, and loose our home and hearth.''

Let us suppose that we have ignored all about our spiritual world, and have obtained all the good things of this material world for a very easy and comfortable life.

Is that all we want? Just to eat, drink, sleep, and....? Soon will the numbered days of our life pass away without having taken some steps toward spiritual development. Then we shall be a handful of dusts, and a great amount of black evil deeds and plays, and nothing else to be mentioned of!

Our history, and the experiences of the past nations, can teach us many good lessons:

Some people in the past; say ancestors; became insolently proud for having a life of easy and plenty. That comfort made them to cut their ties with their compassionate, All-knowing God, and consequently were destroyed for their evil deeds.

Now we can see traces of their glorious houses and palaces which are ruined and destroyed. Such sites can be seen everywhere and in every country, and there are some of them whose names even we do not know. God has already inherited their lands and properties, but we ought to know that the Merciful will never destroy a people without warning them, and giving them full opportunities of repentance, and amendment. But when they deliberately reject the truth, and prefer falsehood, and continue with their evil deeds, they have to taste the inevitable consequences of their deeds.

The ending of this passage is:-

``....and what is with Allah is better and more enduring.''

All good things of this world will have their own charges and problems. In this mortal material world; good and bad, sweet and bitter, right and wrong; all go on side by side.

In other word; the good things of this world that are temporarily deposited with us are very fleeting, and have no value compared to the heavenly things and especial gifts of God. So a wise man will not forget his share of the good thing of the material world, but will never sacrifice an everlasting spiritual advantage, to obtain a material one:-

``....and what is with Allah is better and more enduring.''
