WHY DO WE RAISE OUR HANDS TO THE SKIES WHEN WE PRAY?GOD DOES NOT PENETRATE OR INCARNATE

To some God’s presence may be the presence of power in this material world, or the effect that covers all ( one weightless, colorless, assumed matter which has filled the world and is present in space also) But this will be like the presence of being in house where every corner is filled with a presence and its effects. It necessitates the systematized presence of parts and there is a need for a place also.

But the presence of God means that He is above the need of any place and no house is further from any other house. If you want to set an example then it should be intellectually acceptable though it may have defects e.g. If we say that the part is bigger than the whole, opposites cannot be merged together or two multiplied by two will be four.

This kind of problem will be correct everywhere like on the earth, on the moon, or mars and galaxies. The whole is greater than the part in all these places and the merger of opposites is impossible here when you do not need and place or station for them.

We should pay attention to the fact that every thing has to revert to God and this attribute of God is effective on human behavior. How is it possible that person believes in God and considers himself present before the great, beneficent, kind sustainer and then resorts to evil deeds and tramples on God’s decrees?

The important point is that this verse about God’s presence also draws our attention to this cultivating factor.

It is said, “God sees all that you do” and in another place it says, “We are aware of the temptations in human hearts” God’s presence is not just outside our bodies but inside the core of our hearts. He is present even in the depth of our soul and heart. Amirul Mumineen Ali Ibn Abi Talib explained God in the following words:

“He is aware of the depths of things hidden and is present for everything unseen. He knows the secrets of the hearts and the coverts signals of the eyes.” (1) In another sermon the great Imam said, “Fear the God in whose presence you dwell and in whose fists are the tufts of your hairs and in whose control is you’re sitting and rising, and walking. He will know whatever you hide and will inscribe whatever you disclose.” (2)
