The common sinnersThe Unjust and the Oppressors

We understand from the Qura’n that the heaviness of the scale will be the reason for salvation and well being and the lightness of the scale means their being useless will lead to the eternal fire of Hell. Verses 102 and 103 of Surah Muminun say: “For those whose scales are light shall lose their souls and abide in Hell.”

The term “ who have lost their souls” tells us that the biggest of a person is his existence , age and life and he has lost it in the world without gaining anything in return. This may be referring to the disbelievers because if a person believes then no matter how much he sins there will remain some goodness in his scale and they being the divine truth will be very weighty. The scale being light and without any goodness reflects his disbelief as described in verse 105 of Surah Kahf that says:

“Those are ones who disbelieved in the signs of their Lord and in meeting Him, their deeds therefore, shall be in vain and We shall assign no weight for them on the Day of Judgment.”
