Some clarificationsThe Proof of Wisdom

In this short verse the Qura’n has filled an ocean full of meanings and related the most vivid proof of the Day of Judgment.

“Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled?” and that he will not return to God?

Had there been no Judgment Day then you life of a few days would be limited to this world then it would have been useless, purposeless and meaningless. The eternal life gives our life some meaning and joins to the wisdom of god to save it from being valueless.

After this verse the book says “His existence is the truth” and there is scope for anything negative in Him. A purposeless and aimless work is useless and that which is useless has no connection with the truth.

According to Maqayis-ol-Loghata and Mafuradat the meaning of “Abas” is to mix and then it was used for purposeless things.

According to Lisan-ol-Arab it means to play or frolic though mixing is also mentioned and is used to denote, aimless, futile and purposeless actions. But this is not possible in human creation.

The same thing has been said in the other verse but in a different style:

“And we have not created the heavens and the earth and all this in between with truth.” And then adds, “and the Hour is surely coming.”

These two verses being mentioned together may mean that if the purpose of this creation was this life of a few days full of mysteries, grace and boons, all the secrets and the mind boggling riddles then this creation would have been a frivolity devoid of truth. The thing that gives it the truth is the life in the other world.

The previous verse spoke about the creation of man not being futile and this verse speaks about the creation of this entire universe being the truth. The conclusion of both is the same and that is that without the life in the hereafter the life in this world is meaningless, joyless, purposeless, trivial and frivolous and this could be the work of the Wisest (God).

Tafsir Mizan says that the truth is opposite of play and sins and the term “and the Hour is surely coming” is the proof. It does not seem that some people have explained it as justice and truth. (1)

The notable point here is that the Messenger has been asked to be compassionate “So overlook with graciousness.”(Verse 85 of Surah Hijr)

This may denote “O Messenger! Since the purpose of creation is to educate mankind and prepare them for the next world so adopt all the rules of education including those of compassion, forgiveness

and love especially for the naive and biased people.

Another point to be noted is that as per the meaning of the first verse had there been no hereafter then this life would have meaningless and the second verse ( as per this interpretation) if there had been no hereafter then the creation of the entire universe would have been meaningless. The fruit of the creation of this universe is man so if there is no eternal life of the hereafter then this universe and its fruits will have no meaning.

The term “ all that is in between” includes angels, temperature, clouds, wind, various gasses and all that inhabit the world whether mankind or other animals or plants.

In the 3rd verse the purpose of the creation of mankind has been joined with resurrection and then the verse says:

“Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled” without a purpose?

After speaking about the creation of man from an insignificant drop of sperm and his formation in the womb the verse says, “Has He not the power to give life to the dead?”

This clarifies that man’s existence will be futile without a life after death.

Surely no work of God is futile or meaningless and it is also true that the result or purpose of His deed does not revert to Him because he is unlimited and the bestower without end so it reverts to men only. Can this short worldly life full of problems be the purpose of this great creation? Surely it is not so. We have no alternative but to admit that without the existence of a world that will give men perfection the creation is meaningless.

According to “At-Tahqiq” “Suda” is an action devoid of thought, purpose and composition. A camel left without a caretaker in the jungle is called “Ibil Suda” because its wanderings will be aimless. The threads before they are woven are also called “Suda’ because at that moment they fulfill no purpose.

In short, in case of a negative exclamation is it possible to let mankind drift aimless without any program? Final the issue of resurrection and responsibility is mentioned as a conclusion.
