The Difference between a Messenger and a Prophet1. The Elite Prophets in the Qura’n

It is evident that for every resolute and elite prophet there is a divine book (according to the explanation that we have discussed last). Some are famous for this and the Qura’n is the Divine Book for our Messenger.

The Bible is the book of Jesus and the Torah is the book of Moses but what are the names of the books of Noah and Abraham? An answer can be discerned from verse 19 of Surah Al A’la which speaks about “Suhufi Ibraahiima wa Musa”. So “Suhuf was the name of the book of Abraham as well as Moses.

There are other books mentioned in the Qura’n like Zabur the book God bestowed on David. Verse 163 of Surah Nisaa says:

“We bestowed the Psalms upon David.”

The other name for Zabur is “Almazameezo” which is the plural of Mazmoor and means the divine verses to be sung in a beautiful voice. It was not a book that gave fresh laws.

There are two kinds of books that have been bestowed on the apostles:

1. The books that had the latest laws prescribed by God which declared the coming of a new religion like those that were bestowed through the resolute apostles and they are five in number.

2. The books that did not have any fresh commandments and they contained advice, sermons, guidance, prayers etc. Zabur and the book that came with Enoch are in this category.

We end this discussion with a hadith from the Holy Messenger:

“Abuzar has narrated: “I asked “O Messenger of God how many apostles have come?” He said, “124,000.” I asked, “How many of them were Messengers?” He answered, “313” and then Abuzar continued, “I asked him, “How many divine books did God reveal?” He answered, “ 104 books, out of which 10 were bestowed on Adam, 50 of Seth, 30 on Enoch, 10 on Abraham ( that have 10 volumes) and then Torah, Bible, Psalms and Qura’n./(1)
