Verses 24-25Verses 21-23

THE DEATH AND LIFE OF THESE TWO ARE NOT ALIKE
VERSE NO.21-23
Here the righteous and the wicked are compared, and their situations are made distinct and marked out:-
``Do the evil doers think that we shall make them like those who believed and did righteous deeds? Or that their living and dying are equal? What a bad judgement is that?''
How can darkness and ignorance be equal to light and wisdom, or knowledge and faithfulness, be similar to ignorance and faithlessness!? The believers have such a comfort of mind and tranquillity of heart, that the hardest of events cannot shake them or lay a bad effect on them. This is where the non-believers always live in anxiety, and the fear for losing this and that!
Such poor people are always wandering amid the waves of darknesses. Thus they live, and they will have more to suffer when they die. This is because in the sight of Allah the wicked are not like the righteous persons, neither are the two equal in their living and dying. The righteous are guided to a spiritual life which will bring them God's Grace and Mercy, here and also in the Hereafter, where their real life begins.
We may see the wicked apparently florished here, but in truth their living is not as good as it appears. It is not better than a hollow nut, which is worse than death, as it is!
The next verse informs that, Allah has created the heavens and the earth in truth. Nothing He creats in vain and for nothing, or without a certain purpose and plan. This implies that the creation is so ordered by the Creator that each person will have the opportunities for its full development, in order to obtain the harvest of what he has sowed, and no one will be wronged, unless he does not want to sow a seed. The laws of God are in fact the laws of our own nature. But when we violate and break the laws of our Merciful Lord and cherisher, we have to wait for the inevitable consequences of our law breaking which may end in losing God's Grace and Guidance.
OUR CAPRICE IS THE MOST DANGEROUS IDOL
``Have you seen him who has taken his caprices for his God, and Allah has left him astray knowingly?''
In the above topic, there is no exaggeration or overstatement because the ordinary idols are not a thing efficacious, whereas our caprices can easily impel us to wrong deeds and sinning. This dangerous idol can present an ugly feature to us as a mere beauty and vice versa, so much that a man may do evil and think that he has done the best in righteousness.
Our caprice is a suitable base station for devil, that is willing to build his workshop in our heart and soul. Thus he can prevent man to apprehend the truth. Caprices can lead a man to rebel and stand against his Merciful Lord. No tyrant ruler has ever been successful in wickedness as man's caprices, when they overcome to rule over, and govern our mind and heart. To give an instance of this, we may refer to the following narration:-
``Once ABUJAHL the famous enemy of our prophet, went to the Shrine in Mecca, in accompany with his friend, VALID:-
Abujahl said to his friend; ``Upon my honour, Mohammad is the most truthful in what he claims!'' Valid said him:- ``Keep quiet you man! How dare of you to say that!?'' ABUJAHL said again:- ``O, Valid! We have known him ever since he was a child - he has always been virtuous, truthful, and trustworthy. Now after his full development in wisdom, spirit, body and personality, we call him a liar, and betrayer! Let me repeat again that he is really truthful and trustworthy.'' Valid said him:- ``Why don't you then go and testify his mission!?'' ABUJAHL answered:- ``Do you want the beautiful girls of QORAISH to say in their meeting:- ``For fear of defeat, I have yielded myself to the nephew of ABUTALIB (i.e. Mohammad). Upon our great idols, Lot and OzzÌ I will never follow Mohammad.''
