THE PROPHET'S DREAM
VERSE NO.27
Before he decided to proceed on the journey which ended in HODAYBEYEH, the prophet dreamt that he entered the Sacred Mosque. The prophet revealed his dream as a good news to his followers. Some of the Moslims thought that, the pilgrimage would be performed in that very year. But when the polytheists barred them from entering Mecca, they began to doubt if the prophet's dream could be a true one.
To remove the doubts, QurÌn revealed saying:-
``That which Allah showed to His Messenger in His dream was truth, because according to the Hodaybeyeh Peace Treaty, next year they were allowed to perform the pilgrimage ceremony. Thereby, Moslims had the right to enter Mecca for 3 days in order to perform the rites, and meanwhile the chiefs and grandees of Mecca had to leave the town so that quarrels and wranglings could be avoided.
Some of the customary minor rites of HAJJ, are to wear a white garb, to shave the head, or to cut the nails and hairs short.
As to the phrase; ``IF GOD SPEEDS=OR IF GOD WILL'', it may either be a lesson to be learned, because in all his affairs a Moslim has to put his trust on Allah and never forget that God's intention and Will is always the most important factor.
Or, ``if God speeds'', may also be a condition for entering Mecca securely and without any fear.
As to the near victory, almost all commentators have understood it to be the conquest of Khaibar, for details of which you may read the translator's note on page 113 of this volume (6).
