Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 19-22Verses 16-18

THEY WRITE WHATEVER YOU SAY
VERSE NO.16-18
Here, some other points about the Resurrection have been put on the carpet among which is the record keeping of our deeds and our words.
The creator of man is aware of the Satanic Temptations that are cast in the hearts of man. God is nearer to man than himself and his jugular vein. His infinite knowledge has encompassed all things and knows the best man¨s innermost desire and motives. It makes no difference to him whether something is concealed or revealed.
In the next verse (No.17), mention is made of a couple of angels who register the actions and the words of man.
According to several verses that are revealed through the glorious Quran, there are angels about Man who are always on guard.
Two of them have their duty to write whatever he says or does. One of them is at the right side of Man, and he writes the good deeds, and the second one is at the left side and notes his bad deeds. It is so that, Man utters not a word, good or bad, except that one of the angels is ready to write it down in some sort of a book which will be presented to Him on the Resurrection Day for Final Judgement.
The verse (No.18) implies that the sentinel only records the words that have been UTTERED, and they have nothing to do with thought or words that have not been uttered. If a thought has not been issued in action it won¨t be registered as a deed.
