verses 18-22verses 9-17

THE STORY OF NOAH IS AN EXEMPLARY LESSON.
VERSE NO. 9-17
Usually QurÌn's warnings are followed by reference to some exemplary stories of the past generations, and wicked people who were doomed to destruction for their sins:-
Before them the people of NOAH belied our servant, and said that:-``He is a mad.''
The story of Noah and his Ark and Flood has frequently been referred to in QurÌn. His people insulted and abused him arrogantly. They scorned him and called him mad, and possessed by evil spirits; but Noah bore it with patience, and kindly and humbly argued with them!
When Noah made sure that no one else among his people were apt to convert, he prayed for God's help, and a terrible flood drowned them all, except the few believers who were delivered in the Ark.
When the Arch prophet of God asked his Lord for help, the gates of sky were opened with a pouring water. The sky rained cats and dogs, and the earth too was split, creating many springs of which water gushed out; and the two rushes of water from sky and earth met and joined, and hence the Flood that swallowed whatever it found on its way down!
It is worthy of note that almost all the expounders have related that; before the Flood, the people of Noah were afflicted by a severe drought of several years because of their evil deeds.
