THE ADMONITORY STORY OF THE GARDEN
VERSE NO. 17-25
Following the argument about those who were proud of their wealth, and relied on their sons and manpower; an admonitory parable has been struck which contains many shades of lessons that one may take, if he does have a sound understanding:-
``We have tasted them as we tested owners of the gardens.''
This remarkable parable illustrates the greed, selfishness and heedlessness of man; as well as the Mercy, Patience and Forgiveness of our Lord; who always lets a chance for His servant to repent and return.
The parable implies that even after Man's major sin, the doors of God's Infinite Mercy and kind Forgiveness will not be closed. In the parable, we see the owner of the orchards still hope to get a better garden than the one they lost.
It is narrated that the gardens belonged to an old man in Yemen. He was a good believer and took up his necessities from the produces and gave the rest to the poor and needy.
Then, it hapened that the old man passed away and his children inherited his gardens.
They said to one another:-``Charity begins at home. We are in more need than the beggars;'' and they swore not to give anything of the products and fruits of their inherited gardens to the indigents.
Then, a terrible storm destroyed all their fruits and trees and their gardens turned to a black burned and barren piece of land! This happened over the night. When they woke up early morning, they were not aware of what happened to their gardens and produces last night; and they were still in their foolish decision and assertion to hinder the needy from the rights, allocated to them by Allah.
So, they went earlier to cheat the poor and to deprive them off their customary share.
When they reached their gardens; Lo! They were confronted with the fruits of their greed instead of the fruits of their gardens! God's punishment and loss of everything! They could not even recognize their garden from the other barren lands for being so terribly destroyed and overwhelmed.
