Verses 1-11Verses 1-11

OCCASION OF REVELATION
It has been narrated that the sura has been revealed after Zatel Salasel battle. In the eighth year after Hijrah, Prophet (SA) was informed that twelve thousand cavalries have gathered in the Yabes territory, and have pledged not to stop until killing Prophet (SA) and Ali (AS) and destroying Moslems!
Prophet (SA) sent a group of his companions to visit them, but they returned after fruitless discussions! Finally, Prophet commissioned Ali (AS) with a group of immigrants and helpers to fight with them. They departed to the enemy's location rapidly and during the night. Early in the morning, they surrounded the enemy and first introduced Islam to them. But they did not accept. It was still dark when they attacked and overwhelmed them. They killed some, captured their women and children and took many spoils.
The sura was revealed while the soldiers of Islam had not returned to Medina yet. Prophet (SA) recited this sura in his morning prayer.
At prayer, the companions said: We have not heard this sura before!
He answered: You are right! Ali (AS) defeated the enemies and Gabriel gave me the good tiding with revelation of this sura. A few days later, Ali (AS) entered Medina with the spoils and captives.

BY THE VIGILANT WARRIORS!
VERSES NO.1-11
The sura has been started with the wakening oaths. Reference is made here to the horses (warriors) proceeding while panting. It may also refer to the camels carrying Hajis from Arafat to Mash'ar, and departing to Mena while panting.
The warriors' horses move towards the battlefield so rapidly that their hoofs are sparked when clashing the desert stones.
They rushed at the enemy at dawn so fast that dusts were scattered to everywhere. It may also refer to the rush by Hajis' camels from Mash'ar to Mena scattering dusts.
Finally, the warriors penetrated and appeared in the midst of enemy. It may also refer to the entry of Hajis from Mash'ar to Mena.
It is induced here that Jihad is so precious that it is even sworn by breathes of warriors' horses, the sparks created by clash of their hoofs and stones, and the dusts scatting in the air!
However, man is applied for the rebellious. In such cases, man is applied for the rebellious, transgressors and evildoers.
He is aware of his inward and if he could conceal his internal attributes from everyone, he could not conceal them from God and his own conscience!
He loves wealth and this is the reason why he is ungrateful and avaricious. The Arabic term (Al-khair) translated to good is applied here for wealth because it is essentially good and could be the source of good deeds and acts of charity. But the ungrateful and avaricious man hinders it from its real application, and applies it for selfishness and self-indulgence.
Such man is threatened to the resurrection and disclosure of what is in the breasts (including belief and disbelief, sincerity and hypocrisy, arrogance and reverence, good and evil intentions).
On that great Day, God who is omnipresent and fully aware of everything including interior and exterior intentions, rewards and punishes men accordingly. This is a warning to all men and if they believe in it truly, their belief will create a powerful obstruction between them and sin.
