The Particularities of Imam Mahdī (Ýa) According to Shia Thought

Question: What are the particularities of Imam Mahdī (Ýa) according to the Shias?

Detailed answer: The Shia school of thought has certain beliefs in regards to the particularities of Imam Mahdī (Ýa) which are worthy of further research and understanding. These particularities are as follows:

1- The Shia believe that the Mahdī (Ýa) is the twelfth successor of the Prophet (ṣ) and the son of Imam Ḥasan ÝAskarī (Ýa). His name is Muḥammad, his kunya is Abū al-Qāsim, and his title is Mahdī, Ṣāḥib al-Zamān, and QāÞim.

2- Imam Mahdī (Ýa) is alive right now and since he was born in the year 255 Hijrī, he is more than 1,000 years old.

3- Although Imam Mahdī (Ýa) is alive, he is hidden from the people, and even though he lives a completely natural life, he is not recognized by the people.[1]
