The Behavior of the Kufans towards Imam Sajjād (‘a) After the Martyrdom of Imam Ḥusayn (‘a)

Question: How did the Kufans behave towards Imam Sajjād (‘a) after the martyrdom of Imam Ḥusayn (‘a)?
Concise answer:
Detailed answer: Shimr and a group of his foot soldiers came towards the tent of Imam ‘Alī ibn al-Ḥusayn (‘a). The Imam (‘a) was so ill that he was bedridden, but the soldiers asked Shimr: Will you not kill this sick individual? Ḥamīd ibn Muslim, one of the individuals who recorded the events of ‘Āshūrā, said: Glory be to God, will you even kill a sick teenager? This illness is enough for him (meaning he will most likely die from his illness). He kept insisting until the soldiers changed their minds in killing him.[1]

According to another narration, Zaynab (the daughter of Imam ‘Alī (‘a)) found out what Shimr and his soldiers intended to do. She said to them: He will by no means be killed unless you kill me along with him. When the soldiers heard this, they refrained from killing him.[2] At this time, ‘Umar ibn Sa‘ad also came. The women who were present angrily protested against the actions of his army. ‘Umar ibn Sa‘ad said: No one has permission to enter any of the tents or to bother this sick youth (a reference to Imam Sajjād (‘a)). The woman asked ‘Umar ibn Sa‘ad to return their clothing so they could cover themselves with them. Ibn Sa‘ad then ordered his soldiers to return anything they had taken from the tents. Ḥamīd ibn Muslim has narrated: But by God, not even one individual returned what he had taken.[3] [4]
