The Shiʿa school of thought has certain beliefs in regards to the particularities of Imam al-Mahdi (‘a) which are worthy of further research and understanding. These particularities are as follows:

1- The Shiʿa believe that the Mahdi (‘a) is the twelfth successor of the Prophet (ṣ) and the son of Imam Hasan al-‘Askarī (‘a). His name is Muhammad, his kunya is Abū al-Qāsim, and his title is al-Mahdi, Ṣāḥib al-Zamān, and al-Qā’im.

2- Imam al-Mahdi (‘a) is alive right now and since he was born in the year 255 Hijrī, he is more than 1,000 years old.

3- Although Imam Mahdi (‘a) is alive, he is hidden from the people, and even though he lives a completely natural life, he is not recognized by the people.[1]
