The Solution to the Problem of Terrorism

The Solution to the Problem of Terrorism

‘I remember two of his remarks from last year’s meeting; the first sentence was that terrorism has turned in to an unsolvable problem for Europe’; however, we believe that there are no problems which cannot be solved. In order to eliminate this problem, the following three steps must be taken: first, the ideological roots of terrorism must be destroyed, second, political negotiations must be conducted, and third, those who are guilty of committing acts of terrorism must be brought to justice. Only by following these three guidelines will the problem of terrorism be definitely eliminated.‌

In his meeting with the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, and Ambassador,Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated: ‘there are no dark spots in the history of the relations between the two countries and we have good memories of our relations with Hungry’.

He also said: ‘Today’s world has turned in to a global village due to the ease of communication between different nations. Now if the inhabitants of this village are united based on sincerity and fraternity, it will become a prosperous village. However, if they are divided it will end in destruction’.

Referring to his last year’s meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungry and his remarks, his eminence noted: ‘I remember two of his remarks from last year’s meeting; first he said that ‘terrorism has turned in to an unsolvable problem for Europe’; however, we believe that there are no problems which cannot be solved. In order to eliminate this problem, the following three steps must be taken: first, the ideological roots of terrorism must be destroyed; second, political negotiations must be conducted on this issue; and third, those who are guilty of committing acts of terrorism must be brought to justice. Only by following these three guidelines will the problem of terrorism be definitely eliminated.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi further asserted: ‘we held two congresses in the past two years in Qum on the threats posed by the Takfiri terrorists to the world, in which around eighty prominent Muslim figures and intellectuals from different countries took part. In the end, the participants of these congresses unanimously announced that terrorism has nothing to do with Islam and that Islam strongly denounces terrorism.’

He also stated: ‘It is a real disappointment that the Americans claim to fight terrorism but they still call the ‘Daesh terrorist group’ the ‘Islamic State’ in their media. Daesh is neither a state nor Islamic, as all Muslim scholars unanimously believe that these terrorists have nothing to do with Islam and that they are outside the fold of Islam’.

His eminence then said: ‘Unfortunately, due to some political agenda, some people tend to associate this group with Islam. In reality, however, Islam is a religion of mercy, kindness, and peaceful coexistence with all religions. Nonetheless, we should not lose hope of solving the problem of terrorism; in fact, if some governments did not cooperate with and support these terrorists, they would already be exterminated’.

He also noted: ‘terrorism spread by groups such as Daesh threatens the entire world, not just the Muslim countries. Thus, we must all j o i n hands and cooperate sincerely in order to eliminate this threat’.

His eminence then referred to the second remark by Hungary’s Speaker of the National Assembly made in their last year’s meeting and said: ‘he said: ‘we should not divide terrorism in to “good” and “bad”; terrorism is evil and it is dangerous for everyone as it threatens the security of the entire world’.

He continued: ‘unfortunately, certain political agenda have caused the spread of Islamophobia in the western media; these media also accuse Iran of being the supporter of terrorism. In reality, however, our country is at the forefront of the fight against terrorist groups such as Daesh.’

His eminence stated: ‘The congresses which we held on how to ideologically and intellectually combat terrorism were without precedent in the world. A large number of papers were submitted to these congresses and many books have been written on the topics discussed in them which are all available for all researchers’.

He further asserted: ‘we have also held a number of congresses on combatting terrorism in other countries and are ready to hold similar congresses in Hungary as well’.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi further noted: ‘the issue of fighting against terrorism is a humane and real issue, about which everyone is responsible. We must take the necessary actions against it so that our future generations would not be threatened by it’.

He finally stated: ‘We hope that you will convey this message from Iran to Europe that what you witnessed in Iran was completely different from what the western media propagate against it. By spreading the truth about Iran in the west, you will pave the way for more effective cooperation among our nations’.
