Shaykh Sharīf Ẓāhir:The Role of the Shi’a Scholars in the Development and Dissemination of Islamic Sciences in India

Iranian scholars have made a substantial contribution to the spread of Islam in India and they have left behind valuable scientific works in the region.‌

According to the news headquarters of the International Congress on the Role of the Shi’a School in the Emergence and the Development of Islamic Sciences, Shaykh Sharīf Ẓāhir delivered an address at the Great Prophet (s) auditorium of the Imam Kāẓim Seminary School, during the morning meeting of the congress. Emphasizing the importance of holding congresses on the Islamic sciences, he stated: “we are deeply grateful to the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this area”.
Stating that if all the Shi’a scholars since the advent of Islam were to be listed, their names would fill several bulky volumes, he continued: “India was ruled by Muslims and Iranians for over 800 years and the Iranian scholars have provided a lot of valuable services to India and have contributed a lot to the dissemination of Islam in the region by their invaluable books”.
This Indian scholar then asserted: “the fact that there are numerous Farsi books on Islamic sciences in the Indian libraries indicates the extent of the efforts made by these scholars for the promotion of Islam and the Shi’a school in the region”.
