Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi's Statement on the Recent Crime Perpetrated by Takfiri Groups in Pakistan

The recent crime in Bolan, Balochistan filled the hearts of the followers of the Quran as well as the devotees of the Holy Prophet (s) and his progeny throughout the world with grief and sorrow, and provoked their outrage.  ‌

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Compassionate

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَیْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

"Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return."

The Continuation of crimes committed by Takfiri groups in Pakistan and the targeted killing of the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (‘a) in this Muslim country has greatly saddened me as well as all the devotees of Islam.

Even though several decades have passed since the onset of these insecurities, unfortunately the government and the judiciary as well as the military and security organizations of this country have failed to cope with this immense crisis, and every day the distressing news of killings and terrorist attacks is heard in this region.

The recent crime in Bolan, Balochistan and the martyrdom of 11 dear miners is yet another instance of such brutal attacks which filled the hearts of all the followers of the Quran and the devotees of the Holy Prophet (s) throughout the world with grief, sorrow and anger.

As well as offering my condolences to Imam of the age (atf) and all the bereaved families over this immensely painful incident, I condemn it in the strongest terms and request the government authorities as well as the provincial and national authorities of Pakistan to put an end to such crimes.

Furthermore, since having respect for the bodies of the martyrs is obligatory, they must be interred as soon as possible in accordance with the Islamic law just as the senior 'ulama of Pakistan have demanded. Therefore, I would like the honorable families of these martyrs to hold the funeral ceremony for their loved ones as soon as they can.

However, burying the bodies of these oppressed martyrs would not mean an end to standing up for and demanding the rights of the Shi'as; therefore, Pakistani people will take action to continue their protests legally and peacefully.

Finally, I ask Allah the Almighty to elevate the ranks of these martyrs to the highest in paradise and to rest their souls in everlasting peace and joy. I ask Allah to grant the bereaved families patience and to bestow His spiritual rewards upon all of them.

We hope that the malignant tumor of terrorism will be eradicated from the Muslim lands as soon as possible.

"And who is a worse wrongdoer than he who is reminded of the Signs of his Lord, then he turns away from them disdainfully? Indeed, We shall take reprisals against the guilty" (Surah Al-Sajdah/ verse 22)
